Let's start this week by putting Jesus 1st. Let's show our children what is most important.

The children will learn about God’s power over life and death.

TOPICS:
God’s Power

MATERIALS:
Battery operated toy, radio or other device.
Good batteries for the device.

DURATION:
Approximately 10 minutes

PREPARATION:
Remove the batteries from the toy or radio. Ensure the batteries are in good shape and able to power the device you’ll use during the object talk.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Explain that the battery and the toy or other device will provide an example of power. Show the child how to place the batteries into the device and ask them to brainstorm how the batteries animate the device. (The device has a power source, wires and other electronics that can conduct power/electricity and utilize it to perform specific tasks.) Help the child recognize that it takes very specific materials to harness the power of the battery.

Application:
In this object lesson the battery represents God’s power and the wires and other electronics represent the Holy Spirit’s ability to extend God’s power to His creation (the device). You could say this battery brought the device “back to life,” just like God’s power brought people back to life in the Bible (such as Jesus and Lazarus to name a few). And the Holy Spirit continues to give us power today! Will we use His power to “shine our light” to the world? When we accept God’s power in our lives, amazing things will happen!

We have also attached 2 thoughts with a link to an online game to reinforce their learning. There is something for younger children and older children.
